Death & Grief Companion Training

Death & Grief Companion Training

Some of us are called to be with the dying, to sit with grief, and to accompany people to and through thresholds.

This is not a calling for the faint of heart nor the detached. It is for those who know that presence is a form of love and justice, and are deeply committed to just care.

We do not sanitize death here. We honor it. We do not manage grief. We befriend it.

A note on progression

These levels build on one another. Level I is the entry point for those new to this work. It is not optional if you are just beginning. Level II is a bridge, not a full formation program: 12 hours to integrate the foundational work into your professional and vocational life before apprenticeship begins. Level III is selective and application-based, reserved for those ready for sustained, mentored practice.

Level III: Apprenticeship

Formation: An Opportunity To Go Deeper

Apprentices move beyond content into direct mentorship, individualized supervision, year-long relational formation, and space to process their own grief as part of their development as a companion.

Apprentice Learner

Engages in advanced grief theory, womanist and liberationist frameworks, and cultural and diasporic grief wisdom, with direct access to Dr. Jamie Eaddy and inclusion in most virtual workshops.

Apprentice Practitioner

Goes further still. Beyond mentorship and formation, Practitioners co-create and co-facilitate workshops alongside Dr. Jamie, with stipend eligibility for supported sessions, building both their practice and their professional portfolio.

Equity access

This work should be accessible.

Sliding scale pricing (5 to 20% reduction) is available for members of marginalized communities through a brief application, because this access should be offered with intention and care, not treated as an afterthought.
